The Academy’s intern Anastasiіa Karavan took part in the NATO conference “Disinformation in Central Eastern Europe” with Katarina Klingova and Jakub Kalensky.

The impact of disinformation on the people`s lives was discuused, in particular it was mentioned about the pro-Kremlin pseudo-media in the Czech Republic, which has been working out their methodology for years. It has created a complete “ecosystem” in which information could have been disseminated without a direct intervention, it would be necessary to choose the right messages that could have worked as a trigger for the population.

Experts emphasized that the new Slovak government is taking the necessary steps to build the social resilience of society, including the implementation of new strategies against cyberattacks, disinformation and hybrid threats. Katarina underlined the statistics, and assumed one particular fraction of the population that is being the most affected. Considering the data she has come up with the conclusion was that the older generation remains in the risk-zone due to their lack of digital skills, and knowledge about the algorithms of the latest informational technologies. Also the important factor of being affected is the pour level of education. The type of disinformation, and the level of its effect on a person, also plays an important role.
